methodology

All species observation records that are stored in the data archives of the global biodiversity information facility (GBIF) are visualized on an interactive map.

validation

Data within the GBIF database come from very heterogeneous data sources ranging from scientific studies (high confidence) to citizen science initiatives (lower confidence). Artifacts and misclassified species are part of the dataset. Quality controlled data is available in the threatened species presence indicator.
