description
This indicator quantifies the area of natural and seminatural habitats, such as hedgerows, ponds, and wildflower meadows, that serve as habitats for species in general. It is a direct measure of commitment to biodiversity conservation and a key component of sustainable and regenerative agriculture. This metric is referred to under various names in different sustainability and disclosure frameworks, such as SAI, CSRD, TNFD, SBTN and NPI.
methodology
The assessment builds on an in-house landcover mapping model that is based on optical and radar satellite monitoring and generates annual data for the past five years at 10m resolution.
validation
The underlying landcover model is being validated statistically against hold out data and compared quantitatively against other landcover mapping products.
