description

This indicator identifies lands and territories that are owned, managed, or occupied by Indigenous Peoples. Recognizing these areas is fundamental for upholding their rights and for ensuring socially responsible and equitable land use. Given that Indigenous lands often harbor high levels of biodiversity, this information is also critical for conservation planning and for businesses to manage social and operational risks in their supply chains.

methodology

We use territories delineated in publicly accessible databases such as Open Street Map and calculate the spatial distance to all territories found within the landscape surrounding each asset.
