Land Steward

Land Stewards ensure land is managed sustainably, balancing ecological health and the economic or operational needs of the land's owner or manager.

Land Use

The primary human purpose for which a Plot is managed. This is a predefined list (e.g., Perennial Cropland, Annual Cropland, Forestry, Grassland, Urban, etc.). Link to list of Land Uses

Landler

Landler uses advanced tech to assess and manage natural capital on land, helping businesses and landowners understand and improve their environmental footprint and land use practices.

Landsat Series (Landsat 8, Landsat 9)

Provides medium-resolution multispectral (15m–30m) and thermal (100m) imagery. Revisits every 16 days, useful for land cover, vegetation, and water monitoring over decades.

Landscape

A large area of land with well-defined boundaries.

Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging)

Uses laser pulses to measure distances and generate 3D models of terrain, vegetation, and infrastructure. Particularly useful for forest structure analysis, topographic mapping, and bathymetric surveys.

MODIS

Captures daily global images at 250m–1000m resolution. Monitors vegetation health, cloud cover, ocean color, and land surface temperature.

MRV

MRV is a framework for tracking and validating environmental performance, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting sustainable practices and emissions reductions.

Measurement

A single data point for a specific Indicator for a specific Plot, Plot Group, Pin or Geographical Area, at specific point in time.

Minting

The process of creating an investment-grade, tradable Natural Capital Unit (NCU) from a verified Valuation that demonstrates a positive ecological outcome. This is the formal step that turns a measurement into a monetizable asset.

Monetization

The process of converting the value of Natural Capital Units (NCUs) into financial value. The platform provides tools and recommends strategies for various pathways.

Monetization Pathway

A specific channel or method for monetizing NCUs. The platform provides tailored strategies for several pathways , including selling on the Landler Marketplace or 3rd Party Marketplaces , using them for Balance Sheet Integration , or structuring Blended Finance products Link to list of Monetization Pathways

Multispectral Imaging

Captures data at specific wavelength bands, typically red, green, blue, and infrared. Used in land use classification, vegetation monitoring, and ocean studies.

NAPA

NAPA outlines agreements for purchasing or trading nature equity assets, helping businesses invest in or transfer nature-based assets with legal clarity.

NFT

NFTs are unique digital assets stored on a blockchain, representing ownership or proof of a particular item or service, including art, data, or even environmental assets.

Natural Capital Account

?? New definition??

Natural Capital Account

A Natural Capital Account tracks metrics of the health of ecosystems, biodiversity, and resources, helping organizations quantify and manage their environmental impacts.

Natural capital unit (NCUs)

A standardized, quantifiable, and verifiable unit representing a measured component, characteristic, ecosystem service flow, or change in stock of Natural Capital. Its quantification is derived from an Indicator and it is expressed in biophysical metrics (e.g., ton of CO2e, cubic meter of water, 1 sq. km of intact ecosystem)

Nature Equity

Nature Equity promotes the idea of integrating environmental sustainability into land-use practices, turning nature-positive actions into investable opportunities.

NbS

Nature-based Solutions leverage ecosystems and biodiversity to address environmental challenges, such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, through sustainable practices.

OTC

OTC refers to financial instruments that are traded directly between parties without a centralized exchange, such as private contracts or natural capital transactions.

Organization

The base entity for a client, such as a company, NGO, or financial institution. Each Organization has one Portfolio.

Outcome-Based Offtake Agreements

A type of Contract that allows the purchase of digital nature assets that will be produced in the future.

PAA

PAA outlines the terms for accessing and using Landler’s platform, ensuring the proper use and management of natural capital data and transactions.

POO

Proof of Ownership ensures that an individual or entity has verifiable rights over an asset, such as land or natural capital, that can be transferred or monetized.
